Office Space

The day I suggested to hubby I needed a bigger desk and he needed a new chair, we went to Bibles for Missions and found this desk and this chair.

Desk $79. Chair $12.

So I gave my old desk and chair to him and this is now my current workspace. The larger area is great for wrapping packages.

I could also provide Blixa a space of her own for when she likes to stare out the window, ie. wait for me to come home.

The Mexican blanket I put on the floor happens to go with everything perfectly. The turquoise matches the table to the left, the blue matches the walls, and the pink matches Blixa's velvet pillows.

Mid Century Leather Chairs

Picked these guys up in Kitchener last week. I'm not sure if they're mid century, they look more 70's to me, but either way, very retro.

Furniture Haul

Did you know that Habitat for Humanity Restores are a great place to pick up home reno materials? In addition to getting larger items like windows, doors, furniture, etc, they also always have a surplus of tools and supplies for a fraction of what they'd cost at hardware stores like Home Depot and Rona.

I got paint brushes, foam brushes, a roller w/ attached pad, and a metal paint tray, all for under $10.

I started this post when I was active and healthy, but hubby and I have been under the weather recently and we had to put our projects on hold while we convalesced. I did manage to snag some more furniture before flu-week. All purchased from my local Goodwill.

Saw this bad boy for $5. Great condition. Little bit of tarnishing on the nailheads and some patina to the suede but it was solid.

Had to roll this across the yard from the truck to my hallway. 

This piece looked well made so I looked under the cushion, and I saw a logo that said ROWE. I typed in Rowe arm chairs and I discovered that Rowe specializes in custom-made furniture and that this chair is a part of the Rockford collection.

I also learned that Rowe custom made furniture is incredibly expensive and that non-leather upholstery for one of these chairs costs CA$1,749.99. A very sweet score this was for me.

It's replaced the ugly armchair.

A little industrial metal desk for $7.

Got this for hubby, who has made a little office for himself in the basement.

A solid wood dresser in really good shape, minus the handles and the veneer top.

Before I go, let's just take a minute to appreciate that I moved all this stuff - two wood dressers and a metal desk - off a truckbed into my garage by myself.

How I did, I have no clue!

My timeline for these projects has been pushed back due to the shelf in my room still needing to be sanded and painted. But they will get done!

Striped cork board and a wood frame

"Earth's Treasures" by Susan B. Schumacher. Original. I love when a stranger and I have the same affinity for a theme, this one being the Southwest. 

I always collect ceramics made by people vacationing in Mexico or anything Navajo, for instance, and this painting is a perfect encapsulation of the Southwest: cacti, Navajo ceramics, chili peppers, and a sombrero with a thunderbird on it.

Finally got The Orchard Keeper by Cormac McCarthy, the last book I needed in my collection of Vintage editions of early McCarthy novels. Vintage only did 5 books and The Orchard Keeper was the rarest of them so I'm pretty glad my set's complete.

Got this dresser at an estate sale for a steal. 

I love the USA color scheme and I almost wanna leave it the way it is and keep it for myself but I've been looking for a dresser recently so I could do this...

I definitely have my work cut out for me, what with this dresser project and finishing my shelf project but painting for me is the best part, I actually find it fun.

An Art Deco waterfall dresser for $89. This guy's a good price and if I hadn't purchased my current Art Deco dresser recently, this would be sitting in my bedroom right now.
